Concrete Cleaning Questions

Can you get oil stains out of a concrete driveway?

Usually a great deal of it, though how much depends on how long the oil has been sitting and how deep it soaked in. Fresh spills come up well. Old stains that have penetrated the slab often lighten substantially rather than disappear completely, and we would rather tell you that before we start than after.

Why does my driveway have orange or rust colored stains?

That is almost always sprinkler rust, from iron in well water or irrigation water drying on the concrete. It needs a rust specific treatment rather than pressure alone, because pressure washing on its own will clean the concrete around the stain and leave the stain behind.

How often should a driveway or sidewalk be cleaned?

Every one to two years suits most properties, depending on shade, sprinkler overspray and traffic. Concrete under trees or hit daily by irrigation greens up much faster than concrete in full sun. If you can see a clean line where a mat or planter has been sitting, it is time.

Do you use a surface cleaner or a wand on concrete?

A surface cleaner for the open areas and a wand for the edges and detail. A rotating surface cleaner gives an even finish across the slab, which is what stops a driveway from ending up with the striping you see when a job is done entirely with a wand.
